Quotes
I am a big fan of the wisdom that can be found in a quote. I tend to ignore the contention that I may use them out of context because I find that the biggest value of a quote, is that if it really is that kind of pearl of wisdom, it doesnt matter that it isn't being used in context. That the use makes the context. Such as one I have been stuck on lately. "The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate for the stormy present and future" by Abraham Lincoln. PersonallyI find the context of its original use, though also relevant, irrelevant when discussing how fitting it is to consider the line in current affairs. I find it hard to ignore the relevance or value or the quote in this new age, war on terror. It is not a conventional war, that will be won in conventional ways. Al Qeada isn't going to surrender. Their will be no treaty, no cease fire. Pretending this is that type of war will only halt our cause.
