Judge Alito
I am very happy with the nomination with Judge Alito. He was one of three people I had previously read about being possible nominees in my last post (the others being Miguel Estrada, and J Michael Luttig). He gets my full endorsement and I look forward to the confirmation hearings. Just as much though I am curious at how his record will be manipulated in the mean time. Should be quite the show.
As serious bone of contention I have is with the slant of the coverage of the war in Iraq. Of course all lose of life is tragic. However there is more going on there then the 2000th American Soldier lost. And to portray it otherwise is a serious disservice. The media has an important job to fulfill and we should all be concerned when they slack in that job. I am not looking for the news to bow down at the Presidents feet, but to give the full story. For some good news Iraq check out this article on National Review.

Moving On
Ok so Harriet Miers has withdrawn her nomination. Fine, time to move on.
But Mr. President, Don't Give in!!
Put up the most qualified legitatmate conservative jurist in the coutry. Don't shy away from this fight. It will be the fight to revive your aching Presidency. Your base will rally around you with the right nominee. You will show the strength of your ideas. Your numbers will rise. It is exactly what the moment calls for!

My NHL, My Islanders

First off I want to apologize for my lack of updates in the last week.
I just got back from my first regular season Islanders game in over a year an a half. First off, I had given up all hope on Alexei Yashin ever being performer that the team paid for. However 9 games into the season, he has a 9 game scoring streak. Miro SATAN is leading the team in goals. Tonight both scored and Yashin had 2 goals and an assist. Also thanks to borrowing my offices camera I have a series of pictures of the Thrashers failed penalty shot ill be putting up tomorrow afternoon. The game flowed really well. There were a few bad calls but otherwise the "new" NHL is on top form.

USS Cole
On October 12, 2000 al-Qaida, radical Muslim terrorists, attacked the USS Cole. 17 sailors were killed and another 39 were injured. It was not the first strike in the War terrorists had been waging against us. And as we well know, it would not be the last. We need to remember that this did not start on 9/11. Nor did it end with 9/11. We must keep up the fight wherever the terrorists maybe. We must honor and remember ALL the victims of these brutal and inhuman terrorists. We often hear that about our “brutal tactics” elsewhere in the world have encouraged these attacks. Well I would point out that USS Cole had the opportunity to stop the attack. They saw the boat coming. But our Rules of Engagement stopped the sailors on the Cole from opening fire until they were fired upon. Petty Officer Jennifer Kudrick said that if the sentries had fired on the suicide craft "we would have gotten in more trouble for shooting two foreigners than losing 17 American sailors."

Gaza and the Truth about Terror
I flipped back and forth between support and anger over the pullout from Gaza but the more I have thought about it recently, the more I realize that while extremely painful, pulling out from Gaza will help show that Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the other terrorist organizations in Israel are just that, Terrorists. Not Militants, not freedom fighters, but terrorists! When they continue to attack Israel from Gaza, when they install Islamic law and womens rights are severly abused, when human rights are abused, what will be the defesne of these terrorist groups? Hamas recently called a dance festival where men and women openly held hands in public "prostitution". How long is it before they women must be fully covered? Or before a woman is stoned for being raped? What will the defesne when the day comes that Gaza is under complete "Palestinian" control and they use it as a launch pad for attacks against Israel? What will it take before the world recognizes what Hamas has never denied, that they dont just want a Seperate and independent Palestine but to wash Israel into the sea?

Opposition Party Need Not Apply
So its been said before (I think in "The West Wing") and since I can't seem to get the quote right ill paraphrase. The Republican Party doesn't need an opposition party. We do fine shooting ourselves in the foot without the Dems. Without getting to much into detail about Harriet Miers qualifications or lack there of, this was a nomination out of total lack of spine. The President nominated for Assoicate Justice of the Supreme Court someone the Democratic Leadership actually suggested. What happened to the cowboy I voted for? Could someone ring him up and tell him he needs to do a better job of legacy shopping cause Harriet Miers isn't quite the legacy he wants. He went so far out of his way to avoid a fight with the Left, he ended up getting a fight from the Right. I do not doubt her conservative credentials, however it should take more then that to make it to the Supreme Court. Another good point for those on the Right who man not like my take, (I admitt it, I didnt come up with this) what if it was President Kerry/Clinton nominating his long time lawyer to the Supreme Court? What would you be saying then?

Harriet Miers
I am, for now withholding my opinion on this nomination as I am of two minds about it. As soon as I decide which mind I am of, I will say so

Chief Justice Roberts "bi-partisan" vote
On Thursday John Roberts was confirmed as the 17th Chief Justice of the United States. He recieved 78 votes. And this was considered a bipartisan vote, a conciliatory vote. What is wrong with us? Even the people who opposed him said he was unquestionably qualified and 78 votes is considered conciliatory? To most conservatives, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg would be considered an extremist and she recieved I believe over 90 votes. John Roberts who no one (no one in the mainstream atleast) considered exteme, got 78 votes and this is bipartisan? When did we get so far off track? When did the bias against conservatives get so great that this flies as bipartisan? What has happend to us?

Donations Part 2
I wanted to explain a bit more why I am seeking donations. I was recently pulled over for speeding. Without getting too bogged down in details the ticket will be enough to get my license suspended which i can not remotely afford to have happen. So I got (with my assistance from my brother, much thanks to him) I got a lawyer which I also cannot afford. So I am #$%#% either way. So I ask for your assistance. Check out my sponsors, donate if you can, or even just spread the word about this page (which i reallydo hope to expand someday). Thank you!
