What Liberal Media? (this will probably be an on going series)

A interesting story on how a NY Times reporter twisted what was actually good news, from JWR's Jack Kelly

JANEANE GAROFALO on the West Wing

Gotta admit, I am alittle nervous. The show which started off pretty far to the left has seemed to move further that way despite the inclusion of non-evil Republican regular (Pres Candidate Sen Vinick played by Alan Alda). But Janeane? This frightens me alittle esp as character from what ive heard about it, is basically her but with a background to do what shes been doing. If this is going to be the last season as all signs indicate. I would much rather something....i dont know how to put it but just something better. It picked up the quality level last season (despite its lousy opening episodes and "ninety miles away") and i hope it climbs up again, end on a high note. maybe a cameo from Ainsley Hayes if they can get Emily Proctor to agree to it. Sam if they can get Rob Lowe. These are worth while cameos, not Janeane.

G-File
If you are looking for a good read this morning check out Jonah Goldbergs at NRO column on polls around the world. some very interesting and as always insightful points.

Sheehan Media Circus
I find Cindy Sheehans claims that she doesnt want "Camp Casey" to be a media cirucs as very dishonest. Ofcourse she wants it to be a media ciricus. It is the only way to help her cause. If the media wasn't there covering every time shes sneezes, then her protests would go nowhere(not that are goign to go anywhere but still). Also if she doesnt want it to be a media circus then turn down the interviews. No one is gonna make you do the interviews if you dont want to do it. But if you grant every request then the media wont back off and it will continue to be a circus

Moral Authority?
Does having lost a son to the war in Iraq make Cindy Sheehan opinions about the war more accurate then other people? What about a mother who lost her son in the War, but still supports the war? What about one who still has a son fighting the war? Is my opinion more accurate then any of them? How about the Presidents opinion? Or the senior Senator from Massachusetts opinion? The truth is the only accurate judge of the value of the War is what history says about 10, 20, 100 years from now. Only then when the dust has settled can we see if what we have accomplished was a change for the better. Who’s to know what will become of Iraq? It could turn into the second true democracy in the Middle East (after Israel). It could collapse in on itself and become unquestionably a terrorist state. It may settle down to a true democracy only to fall 50 years from now. All we have for now is the hope and belief that things will get better there. That Iraqis will be better off then they were 5 years ago, that the next generation of Iraqis will thank us. And finally that we did a good and decent thing.

Truce!
I am calling for a truce. Or at the very least a favor with potential to help.

I pledge to try to speak of people to the political left with more civility and decency and ask other conservatives to do the same. I ask that they do the same for people on the right. Because name calling is not going to do anything to help America and that is what we all really care about.

Calling people who are pro-choice baby killers does not help the discussion, just as calling pro-lifers misogynists. The Democrats don’t want to tax us back to the Stone Age, just as Republicans aren’t looking to screw the poor for the benefit of the rich. Liberals don’t hate America and Conservatives aren’t evil. And none of these labels get us anywhere. They aren’t going to change anyone’s mind. Nor will they advance your cause. You can discuss the issue without discussing the person. At the end of the day what we are talking about is a difference in opinion on the responsibility of our government. No matter what anyone tells you, no side has it completely right. Some days liberals will be correct, other days conservatives will be correct.

Our Congress is downright the picture of civility when compared to some foreign equivalents. We’ve seen the footage of actual fights breaking out in other legislative bodies. But what concerns me isn’t necessarily how our representatives are behaving themselves, though it is of concern. No what worries me, is how average citizens treat each other. Now I am not one to ask “Can’t we all just get along?” however I wonder couldn’t we at least disagree a little more civilly? Do we really need to assume anyone we disagree with is a bad person? Is that really going to help anyone?
